2nd August 2009  -  Ramsgate
Train home was due to depart from Ramsgate at 0922hrs so we had pre-booked a taxi for 0845hrs to take Andy, myself plus heavy bags to the station.  I was up at 0730hrs and when I stepped off the boat I thought to myself "this is just typical", just a very gentle wind and the sea was calm, even in the Harbour entrance!  Oh well, I toyed with the idea of pressing on to Lowestoft but not sure how much that would help and that would also mean I would not be home in good time to prepare for work.

Taxi was late - argh!! but once he arrived we said our goodbyes to Eric and we were soon on a train heading for London.  Why are trains never on time - it's not as if they have heavy seas or gusty winds to deal with!!  We were late into Victoria station therefore it looked unlikely we would make our connection from Kings Cross in just 30 minutes.  That was soon confirmed as the Victoria tube line was closed this weekend so we joined the queue for a taxi and made our way across the city to Kings Cross.  Next available train to get us to Newark was 1310hrs, we had a forty five minute wait and then boarded for the final leg to Newark.  Just an hour and thirty minutes later we were in Newark, another short taxi ride and we were back in the marina.  It is very surreal to see an empty berth were Sanity usually is, the only experience of this previously is when we are on the hard standing - and to be honest I don't go up to the top of the marina very often when we are out of the water.

After an hours drive I was safely home.  The decision I had to make now was whether I could sort out work on Monday so I could return to Ramsgate on Tuesday morning to enable Eric and I to get Sanity back to Farndon.
