28th July 2009  - Bougival Lock to Rouen
Early start but another nice day,  we slipped our moorings and proceeded the short distance to Bougival Lock and down we went!  We are getting quite skilled with our rope work and a dab hand at the locks,  I have even been on the foredeck on more than one occasion both throwing ropes and lassoing bollards ;-)

Distance to cover today is nearly 200km and with both fuel tanks heading for the red this was going to be tight.

More river, there is only so many times I can say how pretty the River Seine is so I won't bore you.  Four more locks to descend before Rouen, the last putting us back on tidal waters.  We made the tidal lock just in time before they closed at 1900hrs, we locked down with two barges in the commercial lock and once on the tidal Seine decided we better add some fuel just to be safe - now this was a challenge,  Eric kept each side of Sanity out of the wind while Andy and I attempted to empty four fuel cans into the starboard and port tanks - needless to say it took a while and spillage was inevitable!

Onward we cruised for the final 38km to Rouen,  as usual we were going to be arriving on or after sunset.  We approached the centre of Rouen and assessed the berthing situation.  At this time of the evening there is never any pontoon space so you have to wait for the chap from the marina to come running out blowing his whistle and directing you to a boat to raft up against.  As it happened  we ended up rafting against a Fairline 36 Turbo, the owners of which we had met when we were in Le Harve last week.

Food food food, desperately in need of something as only sweets left on board!  Andy and I had our frequent late night walk/jog across the bridge and into Rouen to locate a take away.  Burgers, chicken and chips, a few drinks and after another long day time for bed.

Hard at work How much further down Eric?
Last French Lock - Bye Bye You can take it easy now Andy!
