27th July 2009  - Paris to Bougival Lock
Monday came and so did the rain, we were so lucky to have had such a nice weekend.  Much of the morning was spent pondering our next move, walking miles to find a shop that sold milk and bread, trying to find somewhere that sold tobacco, and doing some further minor repairs on the boat in between the showers.

By the afternoon we decided to push on back down stream in a token attempt to make a little progress back towards colder climes :-( First things first, we had to empty our fuel cans, 80 litres went into the port tank and 80 litres in the starboard, then carry all four empty cans up a flight of steps and across a very busy road to the fuelling station for them to be refilled.  80 litres in, the cans were now heavy!  Back across the road, down the steps, cans secured on the fly bridge and we were ready for the off.

We slipped out of our tight mooring and headed into the lock for the short descent onto the Seine while narrowly avoiding an incident by remembering just in time to drop the aerials!  The rain had eased and the sun was trying to shine so the cruise back through Paris was very enjoyable compared to our rush upstream three days ago.  Navigating the Seine is easy as long as you know your CEVNI rules and regulations, and you can avoid all the cruise boats and barges.  We were held up for a short while as a one way system operates on the river in Paris so we had to sit tight until we had a green light to go!

After all the moaning about the weather it was short lived as during the late afternoon and evening we had glorious sunshine.  A lovely cruise downstream to Bougival lock followed by food and a few drinks out in the cockpit on a beautiful evening, we retired ready for a long day on Tuesday to try and make Rouen.
