To locate the touch screen TFT monitor a
new helm dashboard was built to
facilitate cabling and encompass the TFT
screen. The PC was initially located at
the helm but has since been relocated to
a bespoke rack located in the port-side
cabin allowing easy access and providing
better ventilation. Two further high
level 14” TFT screens were installed at
the helm and power / VGA cables routed
out of sight.

Re-Naming the boat
Everything was on hold until we renamed
the boat, ship’s registry, boat safety
certificate, river licence etc, so on a
warm summers evening (and with a small
amount of Jack Daniels) we had a
ceremony to rename the boat from J’Alimo
to Sanity - although I think perhaps
Insanity would have been more
appropriate!
It wasn’t a big affair, and consisted of
reading the scripts listed in the link below and a
bottle of champagne poured across the
bows.

Exterior
A trip to Grimsby and then out into the
North Sea (in rather unpleasant weather
conditions) resulted in a few concerns
over the pops, trim tabs and possible
damage to the keel from going aground,
so Sanity was lifted out of the water in
November 2007.
While out of the water we concentrated
on
-
Getting the pops re-dressed
and some rather large chips (chunks
missing) repaired. - Fixing the Trim Tabs which
were stuck fully extended – this turned
out to be a faulty electrical
connection.
-
Applying new Anti-foul
-
Removing the lower blue line
just above the water line.
-
Applying a darker blue paint
to the remaining line on the hull
- Lifting points marked on
Port and Starboard side.
-
Some minor gel coat repairs
-
Hours spent waxing and
polishing of the hull
-
Anchor removed, cleaned and
chain interval markers attached.
